February 1, 2002 Extended Systems announced Wednesday that it has licensed its Bluetooth development software to Hughes Network Systems.
Hughes Network Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Electronics Corporation, provides broadband satellite-based network solutions.
Hughes used the software in wireless data products, said Jim Gandolfi, senior Hughes Network Systems San Diego Division, who added that Extended Systems' "provided in-depth developer training and technical support services that enabled our development team to quickly implement" the technology.
The Extended Systems' XTNDAccess Blue SDK package is designed for use in embedded devices including cellular phones, PDAs, consumer electronics, automotive, industrial and medical equipment.
Other companies who have licensed Extended Systems' Bluetooth software, include Motorola, Mitsubishi and Norwood Systems from telecommunications; Hewlett-Packard for imaging; Palm for PDAs; Red-M, NEC and 3Com for networking; Visteon for automotive, and JVC for audio/visual.
