Dr. Seuss's "The Cat in
the Hat" will be the inspiration for a new theatrical film and adventure game.
Vivendi Universal Games will publish the 3D action-adventure game, which is scheduled for release in the fourth
quarter. It will be developed by Magenta Software for console and Digital Eclipse Software for the
handheld and PC.
Starring Mike Myers in the title role, the film adaptation of the literary classic from Academy Award winning
producer Brian Grazer and director Bo Welch also stars Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston, Dakota Fanning,
Spencer Breslin, and Amy Hill. The film, from Universal Pictures/DreamWorks Pictures/Imagine
Entertainment, is scheduled for release on November 21, 2003.
"The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss was first published in 1957. The mischievous feline visitor in the striped
stove-pipe hat makes his big screen debut with this live-action production, which will bring the delightfully
off-kilter Dr.
Seuss characters as well as some new ones created especially for the film to life on the big screen.
Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, responsible for global licensing and retail strategies as well
