Cingular Wireless is teaming with CBS Sports to offer fans a way to stay mobile and stay connected to NCAA Basketball Tournament action.
Through a partnership, Cingular and CBS sportsline.com, along with NCAAsports.com and wireless platform provider Air2Web, NCAA fans will be able to receive SMS score alerts on scores during various points in games. Sign up at the Cingular Web site will allow customers to register for score alerts to be sent to their phones near the start of the game, halftime or at the game's finale.
NCAA fans will also be able to show their team spirit spirit via their phones. Through text messages, fans will be able to vote on questions such as "who's the best playing college basketball" and "will your team make it to the Final Four?" How it will work: During tournament coverage, CBS Sports will display questions about college basketball, and ask fans to respond via text messaging through their Cingular Wireless service. The votes will be tallied in real time and the results will be presented back to the viewing audience.
Throughout NCCA tournament play, Cingular said fans will be able to download their choice of university fight song ringtones as well as the "NCAA on CBS" theme song, as well as what has become the unofficial championship theme song, "One Shining Moment." Also available: a selection of college logos to serve as a screen saver or caller ID logo on their phones.
NCAA basketball play, now underway, culminates with the "Final Four" games at the Louisiana Superdome on April 5th and 7th.
