Ericsson yesterday launched its new mobile commerce platform, a scalable solution that includes modules for access, payment and security.
Targeted at network operators and service providers, the Mobile Commerce Platform provides an end-to-end solution for delivering mobile Internet services to a mass market.
"Launching this platform is a logical step for us we are giving our customers a solid foundation for creating new value," said Lars Boman, president of Ericsson Internet Applications.
The platform he added, enables providers to charge for both site content as well as goods and services purchased. Providing support for these transactions: Jalda the payment technology that enables micro and session-based payments from both fixed and mobile devices developed by the Ericsson and Hewlett-Packard joint venture, EHPT.
Mobile Commerce Platform security functions range from simple password verification to sophisticated wireless public key infrastructure protection. The platform also supplies an end-user on-line customer service function, mCare, which provides immediate context-sensitive help.
The Mobile Commerce Platform solution is ready for General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), the packet-based data bearer service for GSM and TDMA networks. Platform Application Programming Interfaces downloadable free from the Ericsson Developers Zone.
