Texas's tony Stonebriar Country Club is getting an extra dash of polish from Bluetooth technology
Stonebriar, situated near Dallas in Frisco, can now offer members new mobile services via a Bluetooth network implemented by Red-M, a subsidiary of Madge Networks N.V.
Based on Red-M's award 3000AS and 1000AP
Bluetooth networking products, Stonebriar's network initially is being deployed in the club's Grille Room to allow provide members with access to email and the Internet. The network will provide the platform for expanded on-site mobile services, according to Stonebriar general manager Jim Swieter.
"Being the first country club to offer mobile solutions over Bluetooth adds
remarkable value, not only because it will increase members' access to
email, club intranet and Internet services, but also because it will provide
new conveniences such as checking stock quotes, golf scores or up to date
diary appointments from anywhere in the club house," said Swieter.
Stonebriar's network demonstrate that "in-building Bluetooth networks" can help businesses provide enhance customer services, said Simon Gawne, vice president of marketing and
business development at Red-M. "These networks demonstrate the benefits Bluetooth technology can bring to the hospitality industry, a sector which stands to benefit significantly from the mobile revolution."
