Redmond's Pocket PC Gets Wapped
10Meters News Service

June 18, 2001 – Slob-Trot Software's popular desktop WAP emulator is now available on Pocket PCs, a move that could give WAP a push into the mainstream.

Called WinWAP, the software provides access to WAP Internet sites using an interface browser that resembles common Web browsers. Users can access WAP sites via WinWAP using either a cellular dial up or WLAN connection.

The emulation, says the Finnish telecom software maker, helps consumers – and WAP's visibility – because the similarity in look and feel means they "don't have to learn anything new to begin using WAP services."

WinWAP for Pocket PC is WAP 1.2.1 compliant and available for a free trial download at www.winwap.org/winwap/download.html.

WinWAP was released late 1999. Visit Slob-Trot Software at www.slobtrot.com, or www.winwap.org.
